Hello everyone,
I am still flying high from last weekend. Here in the East coast , Nova Scotia , and to be more exact, Truro. ( which is only 50 minutes from Halifax). , was a momentous historic event for me and my partner. We took part in the festivities BBQ, Bikes and Blues for the entire weekend. Full day Friday through to full day Sunday. Hard to pin point one highlight of the weekend, there are several., but one figure does stand alone from all others, and that was BUDDY GUY!!!!!!!
For a 71 year old , this 5 time Grammy award winner, the best Blues man alive today, and a man that legend Jimmy Hendrix idled, was extraordinary to say the least. He put on a show that blew me away, and he has topped the chart of my most favourite concert I have seen to date..............even topped Pearl jam and Motley Crue!!!!!!!! A part of music history came to our province and I was pleased to have been there. We were front row and only 10 feet away from him all night. He played all over the stage and even ventured, bravely, into the crowd at ground level, wailing on his guitar. At the end of the night he threw his guitar` picks, and I was one of the few lucky people to have one tossed to me. He walked in front of me and looked at my outstretched hands and tossed me the autographed pick.
Other artists there : Sue Foley - Best woman Blues artist in the world to day ( even over Bonnie Raite)
: James Cotton - Best harp player in the world, he is 72 yrs and still going strong
: Kenny Wayne Shepperd - need I say more, a baby Santana in the making
: Charlie Acourt - our own Blues man, known world wide
*****There were many many more well known artists, I would spend all day typing about.
Next year, I will be there again..................front row and center. You never know who will be there :)
